Andrew Errington, Can We Trust What the Gospels say about Jesus? Matthias Media, Sydney, 2009. Andrew has a MA in early Christian and Jewish Studies and is a former EU president.
Murray Smith, Jesus: All About Life, The Bible Society, Sydney, 2009. Murray is currently completing a PhD on Jesus and Early Christianity. He’s also a former EU president. Reviewed here and here.

Sounds like a big seminar! ;-)
What are the recommendations for? To be given away to postgrads evangelistically? For general consumption by postgrad Christians?
In either case, may I suggest raising the bar a little on the reading level? Not that those texts aren't excellent and written by guys who know their stuff, it is just that most of them are written at a fairly popular level.
How about NTW's The Challenge of Jesus? And is there a reason you're sticking to historical Jesus material? No theology? Ethics? Social critique?
I'm not sure I've got the point of the list yet so maybe these comments are irrelevant.

Hi Byron, the ancon website is down.
My seminar is for about 25 students, and is on the Tuesday at AnCon, so they will all most likely be undergrads. My seminar is on the historicity of the New Testament, with the point being to sharpen the apologetic skills of undergrad students.
What kind of theology, ethics or social critique books did you have in mind?
I have some quotes from NTW, Ed Sanders, Christopher Tucket etc. in the seminar, but I'm really happy to recommend some books that lift the bar. Any suggestions?
Ah sorry - I misunderstood. I thought you were giving a seminar to postgrads. That makes good sense now and those books look good.
