Great choice of picture for your post, Matt. If in doubt, go classical. It has, I think, become somewhat easier than it was to be a Tom Wright fan in this town. Not that that would be difficult. Be glad that you're not fifteen years older ...
Yes, I've heard it was pretty nasty. There are still a few punks around who are happy to "rip your head off", so to speak. Take the long running series of posts on the sydneyanglicans.net site. And they are now training up a generation of young angry theologians.
Take the long running series of posts on the sydneyanglicans.net site.A few times over recent years I've done a scan through sydneyanglicans out of curiosity, to see if I could bear looking at it regularly. I've been consistently disappointed. I'm happy that some other people are willing to persevere with it as a forum (and some individual articles are sensible) but it's not something I'm prepared to take on myself. As for discussion boards at this (or indeed at other "official" sites) I wonder if such things are even capable of being serious. In my limited experience they have the poorer qualities of newspapers' letters pages, both intensified and sped up, and none of the virtues. In terms of process one can see how that comes about --- it's not mysterious --- but it makes me wonder, why bother?
Yes, those discussion boards make me want to cry...especially because of one head kicker from a publisher in the fair eastern suburbs of Sydney. And I hear Katay has an interesting story to tell about his recent briefing article.
Ah, poor defenceless little baby orthodoxy getting its arms and head ripped off...What was the Briefing story?
